I recently up graded one of my blogs to the latest WordPress 2.7 Fabulous design-Except the fact this is a totally different view,and not a normal upgrade-With me it came with a few problems-Have to say still have this site You-Fat with the new 2.7-However some of my other blog sites had some problems-
Could not post or change posts-Also found it changed dates from previous posts-Think I have fixed all--- However because this is such a new different look platform for WordPress I would suggest waiting for a few weeks to get all bugs soughed out- It is a great look and much better interface-Just be careful and always back up before any changes-
Will show you in next post how to Backup before you change your WordPress in any way--
Also read forums on any new Up grade of WordPress before you take that step.

I was reading a article from Lost Art Of Blogging.



Which scared me a little as I would hate to have my site being redirected by hackers to a site that could be porn or worse and then have Google de-index my site from there search engine-In this article there is a link to a free plugin which I have just installed to my wordpress-very simple installation- Plugin is called LOGIN LOCKDOWN It is not the holy grail but it does offer some great protection.It simply works that if someone tries to hack into your site LockDown records the IP address and timestamp of every failed WordPress login attempt. If more than a certain number of attempts are detected within a short period of time from the same IP range, then the login function is disabled for all requests from that range. This helps to prevent brute force password discovery. Currently the plugin defaults to a 1 hour lock out of an IP block after 3 failed login attempts within 5 minutes. This can be modified via the Options panel. Administrators can release locked out IP ranges manually from the panel.

This is nothing to do with Internet Marketing-However I felt it was important to let fellow bloggers know about this problem with WordPress.

Whenever a

blog pings,

many background processes happen which get your blog quickly indexed by search engines as well as bringing traffic from many other sources

Services like Technorati (http://technorati.com) spider your links to tell who is linking to you and who you're linking to, almost in real time. If you show up on someone's Technorati link list for their site (often called an "egorati search") they're likely to visit your site to see what you said, increasing your exposure.

Unfortunately, because of a serious flaw in WordPress's pinging system you are already using ping in the wrong way, without even realizing it.

If you are using WordPress the way it is provided then it's very possible that by now your blog has been banned from many ping services because of ping spamming.

Bit Scary-However it has happened to me on other blogs I have-here is one (Dogs-B-Fit)

By default WordPress pings whenever you post a new topic in your blog. That's fine and that's what we want.

But do you know WordPress also pings whenever you edit and update any existing post?

If you edit a post 10 times then WordPress will send 10 pings. It doesn't matter how small or big a change you make, WordPress always pings whenever you edit.
I found this free plugin in from MaxblogPress you really need to read what Pawan has to say-really worth the time to read this and download for FREE.
Easy to set up and mind boglling on what we have being doing to our blogs every time we change a post.

Careful:Using WordPress Can Ban Your Blog From Ping Services

Free web hosting will not help here-To get a complete package look at Sitebuidit

If you want to do this on your own,I presume you already have built a web site using Dream Weaver or Coffecup-etc-Then go to Host Gator For a small account will cost you less than $10 a month-Plus they have a really simple concept to make WordPress blogs using Fantastico De Luxe in the Cpanel.Also you can add unlimited Domain names-They are good.
If you are starting out you really need to look at Sitebuildit and spend some time looking at their videos and free stuff to learn-Do not jump in to anything without research-learn then react.
